Pinspiration: Wine Cork Xmas Tree

Today’s Pinspiration is for all you winos out there! Ever wonder what to do with all the wine corks you’ve collected from really yummy or cool looking bottles of wine? Have no fear! I found an adorable DIY to turn those corks into a Christmas Tree! Yay! The amount of corks you’ll need will really depend on how big or small you want to make the tree. I used a total of 21 corks, and it stands 4.5 inches tall. Sounds like a lot of corks, but it’s a cute little thing!

Inspiration found here

So here’s what you’ll need:
Wine corks (the amount is up to you)
Red and green paint
Hot glue

The first thing you’ll need to do is dip one end of all but one cork into the green paint. The last one, dip in red paint (I randomly had a bottle that had a red cork-Franco Todini). Once all the paint is dry, figure out which corks you want on each layer of the tree. The bottom layer will be the largest-mine has 6 corks. Take the hot glue, and glue a line on one side of the first cork, then hold the next cork to it so they dry together. Allow enough time for them to dry before moving onto the next piece (I totally didn’t so I had to go back a fix a few pieces). I suggest gluing each layer separately before trying to put it all together at one time. This will allow the glue to dry completely, and will make it easier to fix any loose pieces.

Once it’s all dry, open another bottle of wine and enjoy your new mini xmas tree! J
